Preparing for Your NDIS Plan Review: A Checklist
Your NDIS plan review is an opportunity to discuss how your current plan is working and request changes for your next plan. Being prepared can make a significant difference in the outcome. Here is a practical checklist to help you get ready.
Before Your Review
Gather Your Documents
- ☐Your current NDIS plan
- ☐Budget statements from your plan manager (showing spending across all categories)
- ☐Reports from your therapists or allied health professionals
- ☐Letters of support from your support coordinator, doctor, or specialists
- ☐A list of your current providers and the supports they deliver
- ☐Any assessments or functional reports completed since your last review
Your plan manager can provide detailed budget statements and spending summaries. At Ripper Plan Management, we provide this data to support your review preparation.
Review Your Current Plan
Ask yourself:
- Have I used all my funding? If not, why?
- Are there supports I need that are not currently in my plan?
- Have my needs changed since my last plan?
- Are there providers I want to use but cannot access with my current management type?
- Do I want to add or change plan management, support coordination, or other services?
Write Down Your Goals
The NDIS is goal-focused. Think about:
- What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months?
- What supports will help you reach those goals?
- Have you achieved any goals from your current plan?
- Are there new goals you want to add?
Write these down clearly. Be specific — instead of "I want to be more independent," try "I want to learn to cook three meals independently" or "I want to attend a community group twice a week."
Prepare Your Evidence
The NDIA responds well to evidence. For each request, prepare:
- Why you need it — how it relates to your disability and your goals
- What it costs — have a rough idea of pricing
- Professional support — a letter or report from a therapist or doctor supporting the request
During Your Review
What to Bring
- Your checklist and notes
- Budget statements and reports
- A support person (family member, support coordinator, advocate)
- Something to take notes with
Key Tips
- Be honest about what is and is not working in your current plan
- Refer to your specific goals and how supports will help you achieve them
- If a support is being reduced or removed, ask for a clear explanation in writing
- Do not agree to something you are unsure about — you can ask for time to consider
- If you disagree with a decision, you have the right to request a review of the decision
After Your Review
If You Are Happy with Your New Plan
- Share your new plan with your plan manager, support coordinator, and providers
- Set up any new services or providers
- Start using your new funding
If You Are Not Happy
You have the right to request an internal review if you disagree with your plan. Contact the NDIA on 1800 800 110 to discuss your options.
How Your Plan Manager Helps
